Redbud Area Minsitries is an interdenominational and interracial ministry center started to organize the churches in the Buchanan and Galien School Districts to respond to individual and family needs.

First, the nuts and bolts of who and what we are.  We are tax exempt, currently categorized as a church but doing community social ministry outreach.  Redbud Area Ministries began 40 years ago THIS YEAR, as a non-profit Christian social outreach ministry to those in need in the cities of Buchanan and Galien, Michigan. We offer a food pantry, clothing, personal care items, seasonal support programs and limited financial assistance for utility shut-offs or eviction prevention. But more than that, we create a service atmosphere of nurture, rebuilding and hope for our guests.
We also offer a free library for our guests because we so strongly believe that readers are leaders, that reading builds lifelong learning habits.  This is available to not only our adult guests, but for the children as well. We screen the books before putting them on our shelves, insuring that appropriate, quality materials are on our shelves.

The mission of Redbud Area Ministries is to demonstrate the love of Christ by distributing food, clothing, household items and limited financial assistance to those in need within our community.

Food Pantry

  • New and returning guests must provide accurate information on their Guest Record in our office.
  • Guests are eligible to use our food pantry once per calendar month.
  • Food is available in our self-select pantry, via a recommended number of pounds based on family size.
  • Depending on seasonal availability, we offer fresh fruits, vegetables as well as sporadic bake goods and dairy items.

Toiletries & Personal Care Items

  • While visiting our pantry guests may select, if available, dish soap, laundry soap, toothpaste and brushes, soap, feminine products, children’s diapers, adult disposable briefs, etc.

Housewares-

  • We offer a large selection of houseware items, from blankets, towels, bedding, kitchen utensils, small counter top appliances, cookware, cutlery, dishes, lamps and wall art.

RENT HELP -

  • For rent assistance a 7 Day Demand For Possession from the landlord must be presented.  Again, the amount needed is generally more than we can provide, thus we can many times offer a conditional letter with which to seek additional assistance elsewhere.

Best Friends 4H Club

Best Friends 4H Club

Best Friends 4-H Club was formed in 1988 by Patti Dynes and her son, David, after an exhaustive -- and fruitless -- search for a dog training club that could accommodate a student with Down's Syndrome. Over the years, our role has expanded to encompass the therapy benefits of training and competing with a canine for our youths with life disabilities while also teaching the every day responsibility of dog ownership and competing with their canines for our 4-H'ers without life disabilities. Our 4-H'ers, nontraditional and traditional alike, benefit greatly from the canine lessons, socialization and competitions at the Berrien County Youth Fair -- and have a lot of fun doing it!

New Day Foundation for Families

New Day Foundation for Families

No family should fight cancer alone or make unthinkable choices between medical treatment and providing basic necessities. New Day works with hospitals across the state of Michigan to reach more patients before they hit critical financial breaking points caused by financial toxicity, a harmful side effect that creates significant barriers to treatment and healing.
